The Epitome of Beauty

As early as the 60’s, society’s perception of a woman’s beauty has been to be slim, fair skinned with long flowing hair and let’s not forget “pretty eyes” referring to eyes of a light or exotic color. Many of those that fall outside of this description are considered more “average” than “beautiful”. In the commercial industry’s eyes that is.  We all know women come in many different shapes, sizes, and complexions, this is a reality that we as a people see every single day. Unfortunately even still by the day more and more people are succumbing to the pressures of meeting these standards of beauty, some even spending thousands of dollars to do so.  Brainwashed and so desperately seeking the remedy for imperfection when in reality there isn’t any. Call me old fashioned but whatever happened to loving yourself as God has created you?  It’s much less stressful than trying to match your favorite celebrity’s flawlessness which by the way consists of mountains of make-up and a whole lot of photo editing. Truth of the matter is when the smoke clears, the cameras go off and the makeup is washed clean, you may be surprised at what your favorite celebrity really looks like. Beauty starts beneath the surface people, try looking in the mirror and really embracing your own uniqueness as an individual, you may find that you are beautiful after all.

Ok I can’t lie, as a single woman on the market in this day and age, the thought of dating just flat out scares me. Why? Well because realistically speaking you never really know what you’re getting yourself into. Yea this has always been the case when it came to dating but is it just me or is the dating scene worse than ever these days? Aside from the natural fear of yet another broken heart, there are even deeper issues to be cautious of.  This world is full of people living life with unstable mind sets, even some of them losing their minds completely. For instance, have you ever just sat down and watched the news?  “Man stabs wife and child, “Woman shoots her 4 month old then herself”.  At some point in time, I’m sure that these same individuals were in the mix of the dating scene. How scary is it to think that you could have given your number to someone headed off the deep end?  Bottom line, you just never know what kind of demons someone is battling inside. I personally watch the news to remind myself that being single isn’t so bad after all. With that said, and in my own opinion of course, dating in the 21^st century equals Russian Roulette and a sista has never been any good at that game. Legendary Musician Teddy Pedergrass has passed away at the age of 59 after a long battle with colon cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and fans. Teddy made his first claim to fame as the lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, thereafter leading a successful career as a solo artist recording enless classics including “Turn off the lights” and “Love TKO”. He will be extemely missed but his music will forever live on!

You’ve may have seen him on several episodes of ATL Housewives alongside his Fiancé Kandi who’s a song writer and former member of the group Xscape. Negative opinions of AJ’s character flooded the blogs after ATL Housewives second season aired, many referencing him as a “scrub”. According to various sources on the web, the couple called it quits as recent as last month. Reports state that AJ succumbed to massive head injuries after an altercation outside of an ATL Strip Club. MMM
